Depending upon the filtering done by the recipient’s mail server, the delivery of emails containing score reports or e-tickets may be rejected, or quarantined by that mail server and not delivered to the intended mailbox. The most common reason for this is that the mail server detects “spoofing” of the email address that you choose to show as the “sent from” address of these emails.
For example, your domain name is abc.com, and you set the “sent from” address on e-tickets to be something like email@example.com, or firstname.lastname@example.org , instead of our systems default of email@example.com . The receiving mail server also sees that your email came from our server at mail.skillcheck.com , recognizes the mismatch of domains, objects to the “spoofed” address of firstname.lastname@example.org, and blocks the delivery.
The workaround for this is to always have your mail server administrator “whitelist” our domain skillcheck.com. This designates anything coming from skillcheck.com as a trusted site and will allow the delivery of the email even with the “spoofed” address. We strongly suggest doing this even if you have not yet experienced any problems with delivery of email from our system.
You may see situations where you suddenly start having mail blocked when it had never been blocked before, and wonder why. Email servers frequently change or update their filtering scheme in order to best protect you from the latest security threats to your email, and if our domain has not previously been whitelisted, those updates may have just started to block delivery. In these situations you will want to have your mail administrator whitelist skillcheck.com, and then contact email@example.com to have us check to see if your emails’ having been rejected has resulted in them getting placed on our Do Not Send list. We can quickly remove those addresses from the list and this final step should allow the flow of email to the appropriate mailboxes.
