Going to the Contact section, you will see the total number of contacts in your CRM listed. You can also change this to a contact card view by selecting the square icon in the upper right.
There are multiple search options in the search fields:
Search Contacts - this is a general keyword search that looks in profile information for the data you are looking up. If you search for 'Lisa', the results will be all contacts with "Lisa' in the profile information. If you search for 'Lisa Smith', the results will be all 'Lisa' and all 'Smith' and rank them by relevance so Lisa Smith would be first in a large number of possibilities. This field also supports Boolean searches. There is a link beneath the search window that highlights how Boolean searches work and also gives you the field names for your searches.
Boolean is useful for more specific searching. For example, if I type Mark in the search window, I will get all profiles with the word Mark. However, if I use Boolean and search first_name:Mark, I will only get profiles where the first name is Mark, a smaller set than profiles where Mark is a word within the profile information. Select the Boolean information link for hints about using Boolean search.
ADVANCED KEYWORD Must NOT Have - Uses 'NOT' logic to search contacts. If you enter 'manager' it will return contacts that do not have the specific word 'manager' in their data. If you type 'nurse manager', it will return contacts that do not have 'nurse manager' in their data. It would show contacts who have 'nurse ER manager' since that is not the specific string.
LOCATION - use zip codes, cities, states, and countries selected from the pull-down that appear when you begin typing
GEO RADIUS - allows you to select a radius of 0 - 100 miles for your Location
TAGS -you can search for contacts with a specific tag
TYPE - you can select the type of contact:
Internal - contacts who have been designated internal employees
External - contacts who applied through the career site
Recruiter - contacts who were added manually by a recruiter
JOIN DATE - select a date range for when the contact joined the talent community
Selecting Edit Custom Fields at the bottom of the Search area will give you added options based on the custom fields in contact profiles.
Sorting Your Search Results
Results shown on the right are scored based on the search terms and filters used.
Above the results on the right, you can sort the results. The default is Relevance in descending order. You can reverse the arrow to show ascending order. You can also select Join Date to do this by the data the contact joined.
Clear All and Load Last Search
If you wish to start a new search, you could either clear the individual filters, or use Clear All - which resets the search filters to the default view. Once reset, the results show all contacts.
In the cleared view, clicking Load Last Search populates the filters with the last used search parameters.
If you've put in search parameters to filter profiles, and navigate away, SmashFlyX retains your search parameters. If you land in the contact section again, your search is retained in the filters (and the results show up accordingly), with the following exceptions:
- if you'd used Clear All before navigating away
- if you'd not not used any search parameters before navigating away
- upon re-login
In the above three cases, landing in the contact section has no filters and shows all the profiles. One can still use Load Last Search in this view.
