What are Tracking Tags?
Tracking tags are snippets of code that get triggered on an action and help capture data around that action. Tags have parameters and the values of these parameters are captured, stored in the Database, processed and displayed in Analytics to enable users to analyse user behavior and make decisions. Please
Typically Tracking Tags are useful for Auto Job Alert / Campaign type messages and all message types can use tags to track User behavior.
Types of Tracking Tags
There are 2 types of tags that are currently used -
- Omni Tags (SmashFlyX tags)
- Sizmek tags.
We have a few clients using Sizmek tags while Omni tags are used for all clients. Even when we use Sizmek tags, they also have an Omni tag as part of the Sizmek tag thereby enabling storage of data in both these systems.
Tracking Tags for Email opens
These tags track whether an email sent out was opened by the recipient or not. This is automatically a part of each template created.
Tracking Tags for Click’s on a URL in an email
These tags track clicks on specific URLs in the email. They are automatically appended to emails that go out on templates
Where is the Tracking Information Viewed in SmashFlyX?
Tags collect information that after processing is displayed in the Analytics section of SmashFlyX. For example, you can go to Analytics > Reports > Message Overview and see the opens, clicks, and other data collected by tracking tags for campaigns.
