When contacts join the talent network, they likely interacted with the brand in many ways before joining. An important aspect of Candidate Relationship Management is to understand the last interaction before they joined, and SmashFlyX empowers users with this information in the form of two key datapoints:
-
Contact Source - what interaction finally led to the contact joining the TN? Eg, I browsed the company’s jobs on Indeed before signing up on the Careers Web Site, then the Contact Source would be Indeed
-
Contact Method - how did the contact join the TN? Eg, I joined the talent community using the talent community sign up functionality on the CWS, then my Contact Method would be ‘Sign Up Form’. If my contact record got created from the Taleo ATS status file integration, then my Contact Method would say ‘Taleo Application'
Understanding these data points empowers Sourcers with information that can be used for contextual initial conversations, robust pipelining and targeted brand communication. At the same time, Talent Marketers can use aggregated metrics to understand which of their talent acquisition strategies are attracting contacts to join the talent network.
There are various areas of SFX where contact source and method come into play.
In contact search fields:
In Contact records:
In Analytics Dashboard (Analytics Dashboard > Talent Network and select View Details):
And in Analytics Contact Details report:
Contact Source and Method are also part of Job search filters for contacts and Folder search filters for contacts.
Contact Method is part of the Workflow filters.
Defining and using Custom Sources (user defined sources) is not included as of Jan 2021. This is on the product roadmap.
Contacts who’ve joined the Talent Network starting Jan 2020 and onwards) are expected to have contact source and method data in almost all cases. Legacy contacts may or may not have such data, depending on where they came from.
While Contact Method is captured into SFX while the contact is getting created, Contact Source data is not instantaneous. A daily batch process runs to find a new contact’s source and write it to SFX.
For recruiter created scenarios, contact source is updated on the contact record simultaneously. For CWS/ATS created contacts, contact Source can take upto a 24 hours to update on the contact record
